Shanghai Disney Resort is well on track for its planned December 2015 opening, the company announced this week

Operational plans for traffic and safety will have been put in place by the end of this year. At 45,988 square metres (450,000 sq ft), the park will be second largest in the world and approximately three times the size of nearby Hong Kong Disneyland. Only Disney World in Florida will be bigger.

"We'll make plans taking into consideration the particulars of the domestic market based on the experience of holding the 2010 Shanghai World Expo," Fan Xiping, chairman of Disney's Chinese joint venture partner in Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai Shendi Group, said on Wednesday.

"For example, large visitor flows are expected during the National Day holiday and the weekend after the national college entrance exam."

"We'll be committed to ensuring a safe and orderly operation, especially when there's a huge visitor flow or bad weather, to keep the best service standards and create an immersive and unforgettable experience for guests."

Construction of an artificial mountain for an attraction in the resort's Magic Kingdom section began last week. Upon completion, the structure will be the highest mountain in the Pudong New Area.

"The main projects in Disneyland will be completed this year and people will see the outlines of the castles and themed lands," Fan said.

The park will open to the public in December 2015, expect crowds.
