Fire Breaks Out at Shanghai Lanehouse

A fire broke out earlier this evening at a residential building in Shanghai’s Xuhui district.

It’s unknown if there are casualties at this time.

The fire broke out just before 6pm at a lanehouse on Xiangyang Lu, near the corner of Changle Lu. Smoke could be seen rising from the property as flames appeared to engulf the third floor.

Dozens of firefighters were called to help put the flames out. Police and emergency workers in ambulances were also on standby.

By 6pm, the flames seemed to have been mostly put out. The lanehouse also appeared to remain intact, though the extent of the damage is unknown.
