Who says love is dead?
A Shanghai real estate agent, surnamed Wang, claims he has gotten married and divorced four times to help clients purchase property. Shanghai real estate laws stipulate that individuals from outside the city cannot buy a home until they have been paying social insurance or tax for five consecutive years.
To help his clients get around this law, Wang, a resident of Shanghai, would marry them, making it now legal for them to buy a home.
Once the transaction was finalized, the couple would divorce, with the house left in the client’s name.
How much does it cost to hire this agent who goes above and beyond for his clients? Wang claims he charges between RMB60,000 to RMB80,000 per charade.
