Shanghai's Line 9 is Expanding and Will Be Finished By The End of the Year

The eastern section of Shanghai's Line 9 was connected this week, but don't get ready to hop on just yet - it won't be fully finished until the end of the year.

Subway operator Shanghai Shentong Group added 13.82 kilometers of pre-made track plates, which are normally only used for high-speed trains. Using these pre-made plates will increase efficiency, ease up maintenance and gives commuters a better ride (so long as everyone is aware of their surroundings!).

The developments of Line 9 will connect people commuting to Lujiazui, Xujiahui, Songjiang New Town and locals living in Caolu residential complexes.  Stations include: Caolu, Minlei Road, Gutang Road, Jinhai Road, Shenjiang Road, Jinqiao, Pingdu Road, Biyun Road and Fangdian Road.

And it doesn't end there - serious developements are underway for the next few years, until 2020 to be exact!
