All unlicensed venues on Yongkang Lu are set to shut down on August 26, and the cops have already been spotted handing out notices on the popular bar street.
Yesterday afternoon, That's was sent a video showing venue owners at a tiny bottle shop next to a DVD store towards the Xiangyang Lu end of the street getting in a scuffle with a group of uniformed men.
The uniformed men shove one of the shopkeepers, who falls to the floor. A bottles is then thrown and glass smashed.
According to our sources, the bottle shop was unlicensed, and the authorities were there to kick them out.
Watch below (VPN on):
The shop joins The Hop Project, Angry Fish and Magpie to become the first set of unlicensed venues to be handed notices.
As we reported previously, all unlicensed venues on the street will be shuttered by August 26, and from that same date venues will be required to stick to their licenses. That means venues with alcohol licenses can only serve alcohol. You might be surprised to find out how few of the joints do. Just 10 was the guesstimate of our YKL mole. And some big names do not have them.
