Welcome back to our weekly selection of our favorite Instagram photos. Every day on our @ThatsShanghai page we regram a photo posted to Instagram with the #ThatsShanghai tag, and every seventh day we crown the best.
This week, we present you with @andrewbad’s astounding daredevil pic, snapped from the top of a building facing the ever-elegant Lujiazui high-rises from the South. But the picture’s subject nonchalantly faces North and looks East, disregarding the sky-piercing towers in the background as he sits on the edge of a ledge, legs dangling over the abyss.
He quoted from Aristotle’s Physics in his original post: “To prove what is obvious by what is not is the mark of a man who is unable to distinguish what is self-evident from what is not.”
To those of us with a crippling fear of heights, it can feel uncomfortable, but no one can deny the daring and beauty of this photograph.
