Two years after bringing his legendary all-male version of Swan Lake to Shanghai, award winning choreographer Matthew Bourne will be back at Shanghai Culture Square from August 16-20 with his latest record breaking hit, Sleeping Beauty - A Gothic Romance.

Bourne’s take on Tchaikovsky ballet is initially set in 1890, the year that the composer completed his version of the fairy tale. The titular Beauty pricks herself on a poisoned rose to awaken over a century later in modern times.

Featuring designs by Olivier Award winners Lez Brotherston and Paule Constable, this gothic romance has set box office records across the UK and the USA. Tickets for the Shanghai shows range from RMB80-780 and are already going fast.
Aug 16-20, 7.15pm (Tues-Fri) and 2pm (Sat), RMB80-780. Shanghai Culture Square, tickets.
