Purple - a lucky color in ancient Chinese proverbs dating back hundreds of years ago. Legend has it that the Han Gu station guards saw purple mist accumulating before they saw their Lao Tzu riding a green ox waiting to pass the border station. In past times, the Forbidden City in Beijing would always have officials dressed in purple uniforms for good luck. It is said in Chinese culture that "purple smoke always comes from the east."
