Pan de muerto (Spanish for bread of the dead), also called pan de los muertos or "dead bread" in the United States, is a type of sweet roll, traditionally baked in Mexico during the weeks leading up to the Día de los Muertos, which is celebrated on November first and second.
It is a sweetened soft bread shaped like a bun, often decorated with bone-shaped pieces. Pan de muerto is eaten on Día de los Muertos, at the gravesite or altar of the deceased.
Until November 30, El Luchador Xintiandi is offering a traditional Pan de Muerto with an Atole (special Mexican hot drink) for RMB65.
Take-away pan de muerto are also available, although we ask you to order for pick up at least two days in advance.
