US Expats: Send Your Vote Home!

Great news for US expats residing in Guangzhou-- now you can receive absentee ballots electronically! Voting abroad has never been easier, just follow the simple steps below and you're good to go:

1) Register to vote by downloading a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) from the Federal Voting Assistance Program site.

2) Complete the FPCA (include your email!), print the form and sign your name.

3) Return the FPCA to your local election officials by mail or email.
(The Consulate recommends you submit this form during January of EVERY year, since states are no longer required to automatically send ballots to voters).
4) Receive an electronic blank ballot 45 days before general and mid-term elections or 30 days before special, primary and run-off elections for federal offices.
You'll have a couple of weeks to cast your ballot, just be sure to check your state's ballot receipt deadline and submit your vote on time!
5) Return your completed ballot by local mail, drop it off at the US Consulate in Guangzhou (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm) or submit it electronically by fax or email (check to see whether your state accepts electronic submissions here).

Paperwork still have you stumped? The US Embassy in Guangzhou is here to answer all your questions.

Happy voting! And may the odds be ever in your favor...
