A Chinese official has become an online laughing stock after a bizarre 'love-affair contract', which he had obliged his mistress to sign, went viral, the Telegraph reports.
Tao Yi, a senior tax official from Guanxi province, has been fired after a contract between and his mistress was leaked online and revealed how the pair had agreed terms for their affair.
The agreement, published by the Beijing News had six clauses which set rules for how the affair between Tao and an unnamed married woman would work. It states the pair should meet at least once a week and should not engage in sexual relations with third parties.
If either signatory fails to honour the commitments or causes "mental distress" to the other, a fine of 10,000 yuan ($1,640) would be levied.
The contract goes on to say that the woman will not "interfere with the man’s work and family or she will face punishment," while he agrees to take care of her living costs. Perhaps most bizarrely, the contract stipulates that if either party wishes to terminate the affair they must give formal written notice.
Tao is the latest in a string of Communist Party officials to be caught up in career-ending sex scandals.
In August, state media called for officials to be banned from nightclubs after a group of Shanghai judges were caught cavorting with sex workers. One of the judges later claimed he was "too drunk" to do anything illegal with the prostitutes.
