Beijing's Heating Will Be Turned on Sunday, 2 Days Early

The bad news is that the capital is bracing for some pretty chilly weather this week. The good news is that these frigid temperatures have convinced Beijing authorities to turn the city’s central heating on two whole days earlier than anticipated.

So instead of waiting until November 15 – the day Beijing’s heating typically gets switched on – we will all be basking in the warmth of our radiators come Sunday. That’s right, the capital’s heat will be turned on this Sunday, Beijing News reports.

Considering the fact that China – and Beijing in particular – is bracing for its coldest winter since 2012 – this news is giving us all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings right now.

Temperatures are expected to dip to -1 C almost every night this week. We might be in for a cold week, but take comfort in the fact the heat will be turned on in just a few short days.
