The Great Wall Forest Festival might just be the family event of the year for Beijingers. The annual performing arts festival will take place this weekend (from August 26-27) at Tanglewood Music Valley near the Shuiguan Great Wall. It’s located smack in the middle of the forest, making it a truly magical setting for a weekend of family-filled fun.
There will be no shortage of things to do during the two-day event. Musicians, including numerous classical performers, will be traveling from around the world to attend the festival. Aside from music, there will also be a whole host of interactive musical performances, art installations, theatrical performances and animated film screenings, which will entertain kids and adults alike.
One of the main events of the weekend includes a special 3D holographic fairy tale animation performance – which has been seen all over the world – and an acrobatic musical performed by children.
Don’t worry, for those who are looking for some physical activity there will be plenty of options. Expect six different sports challenges, a 400-meter mountain run, self-defense escape training, obstacle courses, judo events and so much more.
To top it off, families have the option of staying in the one-of-a-kind Tent Hotel. Fifty high-end and exclusive tents will be set up on the premises. There will be bars and full hotel services which makes for a unique and luxurious camping experience for families.
