I recently had the chance to try out Charlie's Panyu Bar and Grill, and while the food was OK, I couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked. The biggest issue I had with the restaurant was the fact that smoking was allowed in the small dining and bar area while my family members were eating. As a non-smoker, it was incredibly frustrating to have to inhale second-hand smoke while trying to enjoy my meal. Despite this, the food at Charlie's Panyu did not seem to match the ratings. I tried their burger and fries, which were both cold and it tasted a little like burger king. The burger was too salty and a bit over-seasoned for my taste, and the fries were cold, as if our meals had been lying around. I did, however, appreciate the fact that the portion sizes were decent, considering the price of the meals. However, the smoking situation really put a damper on the overall dining experience.
