China Scraps COVID Tests for Inbound Travelers

China is set to scrap one of the last remaining COVID rules for those who arrive in the country from overseas.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, August 28, those entering the Chinese mainland will no longer be required to present a negative nucleic acid test or rapid antigen test as of this Wednesday, August 30.

If you have recently entered the Chinese mainland, you may have noticed that checking of the required COVID test result has been… well… a little lax to say the least.

We understand that inbound and outbound travelers are still required to complete a health declaration.

It’s August 2023 and we’re still writing about COVID rules. Who’d have thought it?
