That's Tianjin picks the best things to do in the city each month.

Jul 3 & 4: Five Easy Pieces

Five-Easy-Pieces.jpg

If dark complicated thrillers are your thing, you’ll want to check out Swiss theater director Milo Rau’s take on the life of child killer Marc Dutroux. The play is novel in that the entire cast is made up of children. A brutal examination into how children – and adults – process emotion.

Tue Jul 3-Wed Jul 4; RMB180-580; Tianjin Grand Theatre, see event listing.

Jul 13 & 14: La Vie en Rose Wine Dinner

Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin knows there’s only one way to celebrate French National Day (or le 14 Juillet as it’s known in French) – that is, by knocking back a six-course meal of French gastronomy paired with French wines. Bon appétit!

Fri Jul 13-Sat Jul 14, 6-9pm; RMB488/person, RMB588/person (includes wine); Horizon Club @ Shangri-La Hotel Tianjin, see event listing.

Jul 15: La La Land

With a program spanning all the great film classics (‘My Heart Will Go On,’ ‘Theme from Schindler’s List,’ ‘The Heart Asks Pleasure First’), Giulia Mazzoni’s aptly-named La La Land is sure to please all. The little ones especially will love ‘Remember Me’ (Coco), which won the 2018 Oscar for Best Original Song.

Sun Jul 15, 7.30pm; RMB20-120; Tianjin Grand Theatre, see event listing.

Through Jul 15: World Cup Deals

World-Cup-BEer.jpg

The World Cup rages on – until July 15 that is. That leaves plenty of time to take advantage of your favorite bars’ and dining spots’ World Cup deals. Ciao Pizza, for example, is offering a BOGO deal on beer along with Italian snacks to munch on. If hotels are more your hang, Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin is offering your second Heineken beer on the house. Meanwhile, if you’re with a group, Gusto Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin offers a RMB588 (+15 percent) deal for 4-6 people, which includes a 3-liter Budweiser beer and four portions of snacks. Stay up to date with all the game times here.
