March 15: Start-Up Workshop at OfficeStar

Start-up workshop
OfficeStar will be hosting start-up workshop number five in its Suzhou-GO! series this Thursday at its Xinghai location. This week's main topic: the legal foundations of a start-up in China. Attendees will learn valuable tips on getting their business started, such as how to pick an official scope for registering a start-up in China and what kinds of licenses you'll need to get the ball rolling. March 15: Movie Class & Screening at Locke Pub

Movie Class and Screening
The Chris Classic Movie Club will be holding a movie class and screening exploring the odyssey of color in cinema this Thursday at Locke Pub. Hosted by Christophe Pavillion, this class will explore how color affects the way we see movies — from Technicolor to Wes Anderson. During the session you'll get to view screenings of a rare 1902 color movie and the original Suspiria film (from 1977) directed by master of horror Dario Argento.

Opening March 16: Grade 12 Visual Arts Exhibition at SSIS

Suzhou Singapore International SchoolSuzhou Singapore International School's Grade 12 Visual Arts Exhibition will open on March 16. Showcasing pieces from the international school's senior students, the gallery will be located on campus grounds at the SSIS foyer.

March 17: Carmen by Suzhou Ballet Theatre with the SZSO at Suzhou Culture & Arts Center

Carmen
The Suzhou modern dance troupe's reinterpretation of the 1875 French opera sees the focus of the story being placed on the male protagonist, Don Jose, a naive soldier who's seduced by the title character and throws away his whole life for his newfound love, but ends up killing her in a jealous rage.

March 18: Hack Hanzi at Locke Pub

Hack Hanzi
Want to learn Chinese? Suzhou-based teacher Lydia Nordlien will be holding a 'Hack Hanzi' workshop to help you get started or prepare for the HSK. The workshop will have plenty of interaction, exercises and other activities and entry fee includes drinks. Note that workshop attendees are required to have previously attended one of the Hack Hanzi crashcourses. Hack Hanzi is suitable for any language level, including beginners and advanced speakers.
