Mars89 is a Dj/Composer currently based in Tokyo. In 2016 he published a cassette tape & zine bundle named East End Chaos. In 2017, Bristol-based experimental dub label Bokeh Versions released Mars89’s “Lucid Dream”, an 8-track EP. In 2018 he released 12inch vinyl named “End Of The Death” from Bokeh Versions.Channeling gqom, ballroom, Jersey club, dancehall, grime, UK bassline and sci-fi soundtracks, End Of The Death is a continuation of the producer’s signature murky sound outlined on last year’s Lucid Dream EP, also released on Bokeh.
Mars89 is a key member of “post tribal dance” unit Chopstick Killahz. End Of The Death follows last year’s Lucid Dream cassette, a run of 30 dubplates for Bokeh and his UK debut in Bristol supporting Coby Sey. He’s currently the resident dj of Bristol’s Noods Radio.
In 2019 he produced soundtrack for UNDERCOVER’s runway at Paris Fashion week 2019A/W and released 12inch included remix tracks by Thom Yorke, Zombie and Low Jack.
