Listed as one of the most popular places to visit in Shanghai in many travel guidebooks, this park at the heart of the former French Concession opened in 1909. Much of the French garden design elements like the fountains, pavilions and flowerbeds still remain in the park today, but many visitors find the scenes of locals practicing taichi and square dancing equally interesting.
