Christmas has come early for metro commuters in the PRD, with both Guangzhou's and Shenzhen’s metro systems extending service this evening by one hour.
Guangzhou Metro Line 3 and 5 will reportedly add two trains to accommodate rush hour crowds and all lines will have one to two trains on standby in case of an emergency, according to GD Today.

The announcement is likely an early Christmas gift for those looking to avoid the yuletide opportunism of nefarious taxi drivers, or those of us planning to get too drunk to safely ride a Mobike tonight.
Although lines – and even specific stops – typically close at slightly different times in Guangzhou, the Christmas Eve extension means all stations will be open until at least 11pm, with some remaining open as late as 1am.
Shenzhen Metro will operate until midnight tonight, according to GD Today.
