If you are one of the 600,000-plus people living in Huadu, you are probably counting down the days till the northern suburban district finally becomes accessible by subway, via Guangzhou Metro Line 9.
Scheduled to open to commuters in approximately 20 days (#christmastrain), Line 9 will have six-carriage trains and share a transfer station with Line 3 at Gaozeng Station.
But with most of the media coverage focused on whether or not each station will have a public washroom and/or nursery room, we’ve decided to tackle a different (and slightly comical) angle: the literal English name for each of Line 9’s 11 stations. (Just in case you're wondering: yes, each and every stop on the new subway line will have both nursery rooms and public washrooms.)
We discovered a ‘blooming’ trend while translating Line 9’s various station names into English, with five of the route’s 11 stations boasting floral names, including: Flower Capital Bus Station (Huadu Auto Town), Flower Capital Square (Huadu Square) and Lotus Pond Village (Liantang).

Clear Pond Station (aka Qingtang) will not open with the rest of Line 9, it is scheduled to open in early 2018
