Alas Guangzhouers, our time to enjoy Bubba Mac's delicious American-style BBQ has come to an end, and, after July 19, the closest incarnation of the chain will be found in Shenzhen.
When Bubba Mac's first moved in to the space that formerly hosted the iconic Standing Goose, we had high expectations. When longtime That’s PRD staff writer Lena Gidwani first reviewed the smokehouse back in November, she praised the delicious meats, craft beers and daily drink specials – something that naturally piqued everyone’s interest.
Sadly, pulled pork sandwiches and beef brisket poutine were not enough to beat the curse (or possibly horrible fengshui) that haunts No.128, Seasons Orchard.
“We will be offering a limited selection of Bubba's food on all McCawleys’ menus in the near future and Bubba's Shenzhen will remain as normal,” according to Bubba Macs’ Guangzhou manager, Nathan Davis. “We have hopes of opening more locations in the future.”
If you haven’t had a chance to go, time has not yet run out, as Bubba Macs will be operating until July 19, albeit with a limited menu. A farewell bash will be held Sunday, July 17, and will feature discount drinks and good times.
