The Diary of a Female K2Fiter is a temporary series that offers a first hand look at the trials and tribulations of the 10-week K2Fit Challenge. Join Ros Russell, a Guangzhou resident, on her quest for a fitter and healthier lifestyle.
Week four was a real breakthrough week for me. I hit the gym for a record number of sessions but, admittedly, as the week wore on I felt demoralized. I was beginning to feel like nothing was happening, I couldn't see any progress and I felt grumpy about everything.
I suspect it was a combination of things. A few too many late nights, not enough sleep and the usual pressures of family life.
Then I did something stupid. I stepped on the scales. I was hoping a shift in the numbers would help me feel better about my progress and put some pep in my step for the week.

The numbers on the scale had not shifted. Not even 100g. It felt like a huge kick in the guts and I really felt like I wanted to quit the challenge.
The next day, I woke up and automatically put on my gym clothes. I realized quickly that I was actually growing to like my new routine. Most mornings, I drop kids at the school bus and then straight to the gym – over and done with by 8.30am and then I have the rest of the day to do as I please. Truthfully, it is a routine anyone could get onboard with – with a little commitment.
So rather than focus on results right now, I'm focusing on the routine and the lifestyle change. If I'm enjoying my mornings now, I know in six weeks I'll probably be enjoying them even more.
I'll wait until week 10, and maybe I'll get back on the scales. Or maybe not.
That’s all for this week, see you in week five!
