Ronald McDonald has fallen in Guangzhou. Much like the toppling of Saddam Hussein’s statues in Iraq, after the 2003 US-led invasion of the country, poor old Ronald fell in spectacular fashion – at the hands of the Guangzhou chengguan

The McDonalds in question had been warned numerous times that the clown statue was obstructing pedestrian traffic and that people may trip over the 6-foot-tall effigy to fast food.

The issue, as far as we can tell, is that the statue appears to have been cemented or bolted to the ground – explaining why restaurant staff could not move Ronald. To further back up this point, it appears the chengguan removed the sculpture at its ankles, meaning they clearly couldn’t pick him up (otherwise we would assume they would have done so).

What happened to Mr. McDonald after his detainment remains unclear, but netizens have taken to the net to voice their confusion.

"Ronald, what have you done to be snatched up by the chengguan? Maybe they have a relationship with Colonel Sanders so they arrested you but not him."

When Ronald will be released from custody is anyone’s guess, but if we assume correctly, he is probably holed up in the same place the chengguan store confiscated DVDs.
