In an exciting expansion of Guangzhou’s current cruise options, Star Cruises recently announced a new route to Okinawa, Japan.
The cruise ship the SuperStar Virgo will sail the route, which will also visit Miyakojima, a city jurisdiction situated on several islands in Okinawa Prefecture. The maiden voyage is expected to launch April 17 and is aimed at catering to China’s booming cruise travel market.
The new route will take six days and will depart on Sundays, according to NewsGD.
You may recall that we previously reported on the SuperStar Virgo’s deployment to Guangzhou’s Nanshan Port – which began on January 3. The vessel has since shuttled 17,000 people on its six-day, five-night route to Halong Bay and Danang, in Vietnam, and Sanya, on Hainan Island.
The voyage is expected to attract people from both Guangdong and neighboring provinces, Zhu Shaodong, the manager of a Guangzhou-based travel company, told NewsGD.
By 2020, China is expected to take the crown for Asia’s largest cruise travel market – forecast to host 4.5 million passengers a year.
