IHG, in collaboration with nine L&L hotels in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), hosted a regional charity event in Shenzhen titled 'When Giving for Good Meets Inspire Incredible.'
This event was closely linked with the community, inviting the Shenzhen Disabled Persons' Federation and the Passenger Terminal Center of Shenzhen Airport Aviation City Development Co., Ltd. to jointly carry out a series of wonderful activities to spread positivity and goodness.
IHG has always adhered to its corporate mission of 'Being Kind and Honest to Our Guests,' which is not only a commitment to enhancing customer experience but also a source of continuous vitality for the community.
All employees of IHG will work together, side by side, to spread goodness through their every little kind act and sincerity.
The 'When Giving for Good Meets Inspire Incredible' charity event was held simultaneously at two main venues: the InterContinental Shenzhen Bay Hotel at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center and the 'Rainbow' cruise ship at Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal.
IHG and the Shenzhen Disabled Persons' Federation jointly kicked off the opening ceremony, and the fascinating activities at both main venues left a deep impression on the participants.
In the main venue at the InterContinental Shenzhen Bay Hotel, located at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, guests were greeted in the lobby by an exhibition of stunning paintings created by individuals with disabilities.
32 beautiful paintings were displayed and auctioned silently, where guests could leave their contact information and bidding amounts next to the paintings they admired, contributing their efforts through silent acts of care.
All proceeds from the silent auction will be used to support the development of programs for individuals with disabilities.
In addition, there was also a marketplace featuring handmade crafts by individuals with disabilities, where guests could admire fascinating works such as fish skin paintings, handicrafts, Sichuan embroidery, national-level non-material cultural heritage silk dolls, and enamel paintings.
The main event kicked off in the Sailing Hall, with David Lim, Vice President of Operations for Luxury and Boutique Hotels in Greater China, delivering the opening speech.
Lim said, "This event saw a collaborative effort among nine luxury and boutique hotels in the Greater Bay Area, sharing a common goal to integrate our corporate cultures of 'Giving for Good' and 'Inspire Incredible' in support of the development of programs for individuals with disabilities in the region. It fully demonstrates IHG's commitment to our corporate mission of 'Being Kind and Honest to Our Guests!'"
At the event, employees from L&L hotels of IHG in the GBA, along with individuals with disabilities, participated in a lively and engaging sports meet.
Additionally, a non-material cultural heritage craft experience zone was set up, inviting individuals with disabilities and guests to interact and learn about the traditional craft of enamel painting, enabling them to experience the unique charm of traditional culture and appreciate the spirit of self-improvement and creativity.
The secondary venue was located on the 'Rainbow' cruise ship at Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal.
Staff from participant hotels in the IHG L&L hotels in the Greater Bay Area, individuals with disabilities, on-site guests, and over ten news media outlets from the region gathered at the pier to board the ship, embarking on an extraordinary sea journey on the 'Rainbow.'
As the cruise ship sailed slowly, everyone had a close-up view of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, the world's first cross-sea cluster project integrating 'bridges, islands, tunnels, and underwater interchanges.'
With the careful explanation of the tour guides, they learned about the construction achievements of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.
Furthermore, a 'Remarkable Concert at Sea' was organized jointly by employees from several InterContinental hotels and the Shenzhen Disabled Persons' Federation.
Guests from the art troupe of individuals with disabilities made friends through music, while hotel staff representatives showcased their musical talents.
The performance by both sides pushed the event to a climax, conveying beauty and hope through the power of music and making a positive contribution to a harmonious social environment.
Lim stated: "The launch of IHG's 'Project Tomorrow' ten-year plan is dedicated to bringing positive impacts to our employees, communities, and the planet in our daily operations. We connect employees, guests, and partners to create a future of 'responsible travel' and fulfill our corporate mission of 'Being Kind and Honest to Our Guests.' This year marks the seventh anniversary of IHG's 'Pass on the Goodness' event. We hope to seize this opportunity to make positive contributions globally, build on past achievements, innovate, and showcase to the world the meaning of 'Being Kind and Honest to Our Guests.''
This event gathered over 273 caring participants, including hotel staff, guests, media representatives, and partners.
With concerted efforts, these compassionate individuals raised a total of RMB39,276.72 in donations, which will be fully utilized to support the development of programs for individuals with disabilities.
The successful hosting of the event was also made possible by the generous support of our partners, with special thanks to the Shenzhen Disabled Persons' Federation, Beijing Guohua Zhonglian Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Airport Aviation City Development Co., Ltd.
