Wuchan University of Technology has denied media claims that a brothel was being operated on campus, offering "after-class" discounts to student card-holders

The campus cathouse was allegedly operated in the five-star Guangxin International Hotel owned by the university administration and located on university property, under the auspices of a foot massage parlor.

Tipped off by a local student, undercover reporters confirmed that prostitutes were working in the establishment, offering "regular foot massages" for RMB 88 and "special services" for RMB 400.

University chancellor Zhao Zuobin, also chairman of the company that operates both the university and the hotel, came under fire due to the allegations but has denied any involvement on the part of the university or himself personally.

However, it has also emerged that Zhao's younger sister ran the hotel and his brother-in-law is both vice-chancellor for the university and the hotel's legal owner.

State media now claim that "police have closed down the foot bath club inside the hotel and its management has been taken away for further investigation."
