In Xi'an's Yanliang district, a 14-year-old boy confessed to brutally murdering his 18-month-old sister after he told his grandmother to leave the home.
On 10 August, the 71-year-old woman returned home from grocery shopping only to find her granddaughter lying in a pool of blood, while her grandson was missing.
The victim's grandmother and a local doctor rushed her to the nearest hospital, but the little girl was pronounced dead on arrival. The doctor's report indicated a 11 centimeter-long wound in the throat that severed all the blood vessels in her neck.
Later that evening, the teenager confessed to his parents about killing his baby sister, and was interrogated by the police. The boy recalled holding his sister by the throat, strangling her until she cried out, "brother!"
Weeping, he continued the assault by smothering her with a quilt, dragging her into the kitchen and stabbing her with a knife.
Police continually asked the boy if he regretted his actions; all four times the boy promptly replied, "no regrets."
Community members said that the introverted boy hated his sister and barely spoke to her. Some speculate that he murdered his sister to get back at his parents for forcing him to make-up classes.
Police officers are still investigating the motive behind the murder.
