NBA star Metta World Peace joins CBA, changes name to Panda Friend

In celebration of his move to China to play for the Sichuan Blue Whales, and because he just loves China's furry friends so so much (even more than world peace!), NBA star Metta World Peace — originally Ron Artest — has legally changed his name to Panda Friend.

Ironically, Mr. World Peace/Panda Friend isn't actually so peaceful or friendly. Most famously he kicked off a brawl between the Pacers and the Detroit Pistons after he fouled another player when the game had ended. As a result, he was given the longest suspension in NBA history. He has also been arrested for domestic violence and spent time in jail. So, all things considered, we better keep our furry friends away from him lest they really face extinction.

Tweeting "New Chinese name coming soon. You guys are going to love it!!!!" Mr. Friend began hyping up his new handle early, and since then he has received mixed responses from followers. Surprisingly enough, the majority of them are positive. Apart from the classic "f*cking retarded" and "dumb ass name" most of his followers are showering him with support.

To the haters out there, Panda clarified: "Guys my Chinese name is not "Panda Friend", its "The Pandas Friend"." Well, that changes everything.

In the latest update, World Peace has retweeted Panda Express, an American fast food chain that has nothing to do with caring for pandas, after they told him "we wholeheartedly support your new name." Well of course they do — free advertising!
