High-speed hoedown: women square dancing on train goes viral

Managing to be more obnoxious even than those idiots who play music out of their phone speakers, a group of middle aged women began square dancing on a train from Lankao to Zhengzhou in Henan Province on May 13.

The video has since gone viral, with over 900,000 views on QQ alone.

Chinese style square dancing is a popular form of exercise among middle aged people, especially women. Dancers usually gather in parks or squares and dance to loud music, something which has often caused conflict with local residents.

Last month, scientists at Shanghai's Fudan Universty unveiled a high-tech speaker designed to solve this issue. The Fudan speaker emits a narrow beam of sound, restricting blasting music to the ears of those who want to hear it.
