Hong Kong experienced torrential rain and flash flooding on Thursday night as the territory was hit by the second black rainstorm of the year and 100 kph (60 mph) winds.

Roads in Central and Wan Chai were under several inches of water, leaving many bus passengers stranded, as the government opened emergency shelters for those trapped by the storm.

The black rainstorm warning was raised at 10.30pm, remaining in force until 11.40pm.

When a black rainstorm hit the city in late March, hailstones broke windows and skylights at the Festival Walk shopping mall in Kowloon Tong, causing the mall to be inundated with water.
