Three expats were caught sneaking onto the Shanghai Metro with their bikes, 'rudely' ignoring warnings by Metro management that this was not allowed.
They managed to get all the way to the platform before a local passenger warned them in English that they couldn't take the bikes on the train, so they turned around and left.
However, the crew was also caught on camera hopping the entry portal without paying for tickets.
The footage which was released by the transport authority, caused many web users to question why the three expats hadn’t been punished for the incident.
The usual punishment for hopping the barriers is a fine of RMB84, however there are no regulated punishments for bringing a bike through the metro. The metro authority claim that the people who bring bikes underground are usually warned and asked to leave, however that still leaves room for an explanation of how the trio were able to get away with attempting the fare dodge.
