A landslide in Guangzhou’s Panyu District killed one person and left three others wounded on August 19 after a 20-meter-wide section of Wangfenggang mountain collapsed.
Eight fire engines and at least one ambulance responded to the incident, which caused damage to a cellphone processing factory.
The geological tragedy was allegedly the result of the recent rains that have made daily appearances in the PRD over the last couple weeks.
The area the earthen collapse occurred in has been deemed a “geological disaster area” and an investigation is currently under way.
