Afraid of heights? Then maybe the world's longest glass-bottom bridge, which just opened to the public in Hunan this weekend, is not the thing for you.
The bridge — which is both the world's longest and highest — connects two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie National Forest in Hunan. It spans 430 meters across and over 300 meters above the ground. The bridge is paved with 99 panes of transparent, three-layered glass.
Earlier this summer, the bridge made some buzz when highly publicized safety tests made the rounds online. One video showed BBC journalist Mark Simmons attempting to hit the glass with a sledgehammer. Park officials also drove a car filled with passengers across the bridge.
The bridge was designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan. Officials have said that up to 8,000 visitors will be allowed on it each day.
