Beijing ranked China’s “Most Charitable City”

Having been ranked the sixth “unfriendliest” city on the face of the earth, by up-market travel industry shills Conde Nast Traveler, China’s fair capital has fought back, coming top in this year’s prestigious and wholly credible “Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) Charitable Index”.

Unlike the hard-nosed Conde Nast index, that ranked cities on obscure, anti-capitalist factors such as “traffic”, “pollution” and “crowds” (Oh, the ignominy – it stings!) the MCA index ranked 294 Chinese cities based on five straight-forward, definitely not fudged, easy-to-define, wholly transparent criteria: “non-public donations”, “volunteer service”, “charity organizations”, “government support” and our personal favorite, “cities' philanthropic culture.”

Renown for its altruism, Beijing easily topped the list, followed by benevolent Shanghai and unselfish Shenzhen, according to the charity index. The index was created in 2007 by the MCA and its affiliated research institution. It was the third list issued, following rankings in 2011 and 2012.
