Mifan or Mafan: Trutasty

By That's Beijing, November 13, 2018

In the buzzing Chinese coffee market there are the big players – Luckin and Starbucks – and the small players. Then, there are the micro players, like Trutasty. Nestled on the second floor of Guanhua Lu Soho, this tiny cafe barely fits a table but it is what’s behind the counter that matters. With a fine selection of single origin beans, a real espresso machine and a dedicated staff, this newcomer cannot be easily dismissed. Our pour over brew (RMB34), made with Ethiopian beans, surprised us with its fruity flavor and complex acidic notes. It’s a good destination, whether you’re a coffee buff or just craving a simple Americano. Just go solo – there’s not much room for more.

Amid feels like a bar on the Bund in Shanghai (don't hate us), while Monopoly is a dedicated whiskey bar where people can be people and enjoy a stiff glass of the hard stuff.
