606 Foreigners to Receive Permanent Residency Status in Beijing

Since April, China has approved permanent residence permits for over 1800 foreigners – 606 of which work and live in Beijing – as reported by Xinhua.

The Beijing Municipal Security Bureau issued the much sought-after cards to global talent – as well as their spouses and children – brought to China by the government-led 'Thousand Talent' program.

In recent years, a series of policies has been carried out to attract more foreign talent to the Mainland. That included facilitating the entry and exit procedure, shortening the time for the permanent residency application and improving services for their families.

However, some expats still perceive the hurdles to attain a green card to be too high and subsequently urged the government to relax their rules concerning it – so far, without too much progress.
