Apr 29-May 1: Strawberry Music Festival
The stacked three-day music event, kicking off April 29 at Yuyang Ski Resort, features an impressive mix of both local and overseas acts on seven different stages. Headlining the gig are famed UK sub-pop rockers alt-J. The indie band are known for their ethereal, masterfully layered sound (and for subtly mumbling provocative lyrics about brooms and stuff). Solo-turned group Liars are also no strangers to experimentation with their genre-bending fusion of ambient electro and post-punk. Other highlights include Brooklyn natives Habibi bringing their 60s inspired surf-rock, gritty garage-rock group The Mystery Lights and Japanese sublime dream-pop group The fin. China's own acts set to perform include Wuhan-based emo indie band Chinese Football, lively Beijing rockers Casino Demon and loads more local underground talent.

The epic eight-hour live show is organized by the Recording Academy, with the aim of ‘improving the cultural impact of music’ on global audiences. So, if you dig music but always miss out on Coachella and Glastonbury, this one’s for you.
