Dec 8: Have Yourself An A Cappella Christmas with Jing Sing
Who needs instruments when there are sweet, smooth vocals? Jing Sing is bringing some Christmas and a cappella cheer to Modernista on Thursday. Expect all genres, from classic oldies to new pop. Not a bad way to get into the holiday spirit, if you ask us. If you're looking for round two, Jing Sing will be at 4corners on Friday night.

Dec 9: Bobby V Warming Winter Night at VICS
Bobby Wilson (aka Bobby V) is a man of many talents. The singer, songwriter and actor has been going strong for over a decade. To date he has three No. 1 albums on the Billboard R&B chart and has a bunch of hit singles, like "Flow Down" and "Anonymous." If R&B is your thing, Bobby V will be landing at Vics on Friday night.

Dec 9: Bill Evans Band
A member of Miles Davis’ band in the 1980s, American saxophonist Bill Evans has released almost 20 solo albums – and won two Grammy nominations in the process. The New York-native is renowned for his dynamic and diverse style, which spans bluegrass, jazz and funk. Evans’ band is completed by guitarist Bryan Baker, bass player Dave Anderson and drum whizz Derico Watson. And finally, don’t confuse this Bill Evans with Miles Davis’ pianist of the same name. Cos he’s dead, silly.

Dec 10-11: The Jessica Stuart Few
Canadian folk band The Jessica Stuart Few is currently touring around China for the second time to promote their latest album The Passage. The band is known for their original sound that is an amalgamation of jazz and soul and makes an especially intriguing use of the koto (a 13-stringed traditional Japanese instrument). Check the group out during their two-day stint at La Plantation.

Dec 11: SyriArt Artists for Syria
This event is for a great cause. And we're always down for that. Head over to DDC on Sunday to listen to some great music. RMB100 will get you in the door and all proceeds will be donated to IRC (International Rescue Committee) to help give food, medical care and housing to those impacted by the crisis. Six bands will perform and there will also be a silent art auction.
