Jochen Miller is heading back to China, performing in Beijing on Friday, November 11. We caught up with him in anticipation of his show at Elements to chat all things China, Coldplay and US presidential nominees Clinton and Trump.

Hailing from Holland, Jochen Miller recently performed in Guangzhou in early August. In addition to another Guangzhou show, he'll be heading to Beijing this time around. He has regularly performed prime stages at major festivals and events, including EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland and Kings Day. Aside from killing the festival circuit and performing alongside the likes of Armin van Buuren, Jochen has also placed first in the Dutch Mixing Contest at Dance Valley.

You’re back Mr. Miller! Tell us a bit about this tour.
Glad to be back, had a wonderful time before... I’m really looking forward to coming to China again!

Any other countries in the region?
Yes, the performances in China are a part of my fall Asia tour, which will kick off in Vietnam and then take me to Jakarta, Malang and Hong Kong before I visit your beautiful country!

Your name is often dropped in the same sentence as Tiesto, Armin and Above & Beyond, what makes people connect so well with your work?
First off all, it is an honor to be named among these legends, thank you. And I think it’s the accessibility and emotion in my work that makes that connection. Making and playing music is my life and I think that love is something people can relate to, it’s our music, our passion…

Your Beijing concert falls on Single’s Day weekend, begging the question – are you single?
Single’s Day weekend, that’s cool! So I will be trying to have some singles fall in love while partying with me in [Beijing], play the matchmaker! The matchmaker has already passed my place, so I’m spoken for….

If you had to sleep in the same bed as either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for a year, who would you pick?
Oh wow, what a question. Preferably neither of them, but can I ask if their partners would be in the bed too? Because picking one gets easier if we involve the choice between Bill and Melania!

If you could only listen to three songs for the rest of your life, which three would you choose?
Well. There has to be a Coldplay song in that list, as I’m a huge fan. If I had to choose, I think ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ is my favorite. Then there’s a Dutch song by Marco Borsato called ‘Dochters,’ which is about the relationship between a dad and his daughter, a very beautiful song that gets me every time I hear it, because it’s so recognizable for me being the father of a girl. And of course I’d like to hear at least one of my own songs, maybe ‘Rotunda’ or ‘Lost Connection.’

Within your genre, who are your greatest influences?
That would be Armin, as he’s paved the way for every DJ in our scene and music style; he always knows how to come up with something new. And when it comes to electronic music in general I love to listen to Daft Punk, as they’ve always been so innovative and original.

Favorite rock band of all time?
Coldplay, without any hesitation! I’m in absolute awe of everything they’ve ever written and recorded.

Anything else?
A special thank you to both Xin Wang Group and Music Fest Asia for bringing me out again!

Fri Nov 11, 11pm-late. Elements, see event listing.
