Hee Young Lim


Praised for her “exceptional sense of lyricism with a full, singing tone, near- flawless technique“ by the Washington Post, “ exceptionally refined, silkily lyrical sound” by the Gramophone, Hee-Young Lim has quickly established herself as one of the most charismatic and fast-rising cellists of her generation.


Born in Seoul, Hee-Young Lim was accepted to the Pre-College division of Korean National University of Arts at age 11 and was chosen one of the first generation prodigy musicians of the Kumho Foundation. She graduated from Yewon Arts middle School, where she was received the Excellence in Music as the Most Distinguished Alumni Award. She entered the Korean National University at age 15, as the youngest student. She moved to the United States to further her education at the New England Conservatory.
