Beijing's leading farmers' market - Farm to Neighbors (F2N Market) - will be presenting the city's very first Zero Waste Festival on November 26th, 2017 from 12 to 6 PM at The Grand Summit B1 floor in Liangmaqiao. The theme this year is Less Is More.

Partnering up with China's leading environmental protection and social innovation groups, Friends of Nature and Ginko Foundation, F2N Market has been working since the beginning of this year to become the first zero waste-friendly farmers'  market in Beijing. Over the course of the year, through our "Reduce and Reuse" program, the market has greatly reduced its use of plastic bags, increased the use of reusable bags, promoted the habit of "bring your own bags", and held numerous events regarding living more sustainably, such as composting workshops, second-hand swapping events, and even launched a "7 Day No Delivery Food Challenge" with more than 60 participants!

In our very first Zero Waste Festival, we hope everyone can experience a zero-waste lifestyle all in one day. Programs include:

  • Zero Waste Market: bring your own bags and containers to shop at F2N Market and get numerous discounts and rewards from our vendors, including local farms, artisanal foods and crafts.

  • Zero Waste Recycle Stand: we will collect things that are deemed as "waste" and make them useful again! The stand will take clean, reusable plastic bags, tote bags and paper bags, empty shampoo bottle and toothpaste tubes, old fabric and clothes. F2N Market will reuse the secondhand bags on the farmers'  market to avoid producing new plastic bags. Terracycle will collect all the empty shampoo, detergent and toothpaste containers and make new products with innovative technology. Beijing Quilts will be launching a new community-quilting project with your donated old fabrics.

  • Zero Waste Exhibition: art installations presented by Ginko Foundation, Beijing Bamboo Bikes and Go Zero Waste

  • Zero Waste Talks: topic such as "Fuji Rock: the cleanest music festival on earth" presented by Friends of Nature, and "Consuming, Living and Eating in Zero Waste Style" presented by Go Zero Waste, Eco House and Veg Planet.

  • Zero Waste Workshop: kids-friendly workshops that teach how to make music interments, wallets and bookmark out of recycled trash, and a composting workshop brought to you by The Bulk House.

All participants in the above program will receive raffle tickets to win prizes from Friends of Nature and F2N Market, such as DIY air purifiers, air pollution masks, bird watching illustration books and more!
