Line 19 of the Beijing Subway is expected to open to passengers by the end of this year, according to Beijing Daily.

Construction workers are said to be in the final ‘sprint finish’ stages of building the 10-station line. Around 800 workers have remained in Beijing to continue work over the Spring Festival holiday.

The new line will run from Xingong station in Fengtai district in the south of the city, to Mudanyuan in Haidian district in the north. The line will pass through key areas of the city such as Niujie street, home to Beijing’s Muslim community; Beijing Financial Street; and Jishuitan, close to the renowned Houhai lake.

Line 19 will add to the already sprawling Beijing Subway network, which currently stands at a total length of 727 kilometers with 428 stations. More to the point, it will hopefully make getting around Beijing that little bit easier.
