Dumplings

This Saturday you can practice your Chinese while learning the art of dumpling creation at the International Convention Center with the Taipei Language Institute.

Across China, but particularly in northern China, crafting and devouring dumplings is an significant activity for most families on New Year's Eve during Spring Festival.

The soft shell is generally made from flour and water, but fillings can vary a lot, ranging from several varieties of meat, to vegetables and seafood. Even fruit can be utilized in dumpling creation. It's also a custom, in northern China, to eat dumplings on Winter Solstice day.

Nowadays, jiǎo zi is an everyday food option that is both delicious and relatively easy to make. This is your chance to learn the art behind this staple of Chinese cuisine.
