Can't Get Enough: Flavorful, Filling Chicken Wraps at Hookah Bar

If there was such a thing as paradise in your mouth, the Chicken Wrap made by Hookah Bar would be the closest thing to it.

It’s so delicious that writing this makes me want to order another right now. At RMB45 a piece, it’s smaller but slightly more expensive than a 12-inch Subway sandwich. Still I feel like I get much more quality for my money than getting a sandwich at the American franchise. The wrap is juicy, flavorful, warm and made me seriously wonder if all Russian food tasted so good.

Sadly, it’s the morning and they don’t open until 4pm in the afternoon. My cravings will have to wait and so will yours each day after you bite into your first wrap. I don’t know if it’s a good thing I’m setting you up to that type of pain but your probably will thank me and hate me for this all at the same time.

Disappointing kitchen hours are my biggest critique. I understand that their business is a bar, and a smokey one at that, but they’ve got something special with their food they need to expand. We need more delicious eats in Sanya. Other than some of my critiques on the food below, my only other mention is to note that most of the food pictures are stock photos. Though the wrap picture is totally accurate, some of the other food pictures do not accurately represent what you're ordering.

We’ve also had their beef, egg, rice and vegetables mix (RMB55). Delish. It’s a bit on the dry side without the vegetable medley, so mix that in to make every bite moist.

We weren’t as pleased with the Russian mashed potatoes and beef (RMB68), mostly because it was so small. It doesn’t cost much to make mashed potatoes, so the price doesn’t justify this dish even with the plenty of beef they send out. I suppose if you really want the beef topper you could make your own mashed potatoes.

For the pizzas, we’ve only had pepperoni (RMB52). The pizza was cold upon delivery the one time we tried it, so in our home we consider this a skip. Maybe if the pizza was eaten at Hookah Bar it would be much better. We just don’t plan on hanging out there with our kids any time soon, and I’m not sure if there are families that would. We’d love to hear your review of Hookah Bar on our site in our directory if you want to let us know about the atmosphere pre-party time.

We’ve also had their Russian traditional soup (RMB38), flatbread (RMB10) and their flapjacks (RMB38).

The first time we got the flatbread, we didn’t realize the vegetable medley went with the beef mix, and we tried to dip the flatbread into that. Our cultural culinary ignorance is funny, and I bet I’m making a bilingual Russian reader laugh right now. We figured it out eventually.

We didn’t have any Nutella on hand when we got the flapjacks so honey was used instead. Of course our kids loved it. I have no nostalgia attached to this dish though so I really don’t care to try again and can’t appreciate if they’re worth the price. To me it’s not worth it.

The soup was really good also though I had to coax our picky eaters into enjoying it. For some reason they’re so mistrusting of soups. Possibly their reluctance is due to their kindergarten years eating endless bowls of zhou.

We’re looking forward to trying all of their dishes soon even though we’re a bit stuck on the wraps at the moment. Maybe we should order them in advance and freeze ahead for when craving hits? I don’t know but I’m looking forward to the clock striking 4pm.

By the way, right now they have a promotion for 50% off on food, drinks and shisha during their happy hour from 4-8pm. I can’t guarantee that it’s still going on when you read this article, but the discount is only available in store and not on delivery apps.

Find them in Dadonghai or on waimai by typing in 亿K亿音乐餐吧 to the search.
