Sanya expats in love with China’s diverse culinary offerings will be excited to hear of a new hot pot restaurant serving unique meat: donkey.
Adventurous expats who have lived in northern China will already be familiar with this gamey, dark meat popularly prepared inside flakey bread sandwiches.

The new donkey hot pot restaurant, Donkey-Flavored Healthy Hot Pot (驴之味养生驴肉火锅) , is located near Sanya’s railway station and is offering reduced price deals on group hot pot sets.
Sanya Online conducted a review of the restaurant and food. They reported that the restaurant seems clean, fresh and well-ventilated and highly recommended the soup, meatballs and hot pot. This was their first time trying out donkey hot pot.
If you’re not too keen on donkey hot pot but miss a good donkey sandwich, you can find them for RMB11 a piece at Hejian Braised Donkey Meat (河间驴肉火烧) between Sanya’s city center and Yalong Bay. They also serve donkey meat soup for RMB12 a bowl.
