Since its conception in 1984, TED (technology, entertainment, design) has received considerable praise for its expert talks on a myriad of subjects – ranging from the nature of the universe to body language, skateboarding and even – believe it or not – orgasms. In more recent times, officially licensed, independent offshoots have sprung up around the globe – including several in Guangzhou – under the banner of TEDx.
This month, TEDxXiguan is set to return with a new conference themed ‘Action/Intention.’
From New Year’s resolutions to those ‘would have,’ ‘could have’ and ‘should have’ moments, our intentions can never transform into reality without action. At the TEDxXiguan 2019 conference, more than 10 speakers will share their stories of acting on their best intentions.
The lineup is a motley crew of professionals from different fields: choreography, photography, food design, astrophysics, architecture, journalism, environmentalism and so much more. Check out the poster below for more details:
This year’s conference will see performances by Guangzhou rock band Nouvelle and Swing Canton. A ‘Xiguan booth’ will be set up to offer themed books and interactive experiences to curious participants. Attendees will also be treated to a ‘community lunch’ during the marathon, nine-hour event. Like previous years, simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the conference.
In 2018, TEDxXiguan saw a passionate crew of both locals and expats, with a total of around 800 attendees filling up the ballroom at LN Garden Hotel, Guangzhou. We expect nothing less this time around, so see you on August 25.
