Two ex-Chelsea managers and one former Chelsea player want to bring captain John Terry to China.
The 35-year-old is wanted by two of his former bosses - Andre Villas-Boas, who took over from sacked Sven Goran Eriksson at Shanghai SIPG, and Big Phil Scolari at Guangzhou Evergrande.
But with the appointment of Terry's old Chelsea team-mate Gus Poyet as manager of Shanghai Shenhua this week, the Hongkou Stadium club has emerged as favorites to sign the former England captain.
Terry is believed to be keen on a move to China after falling down the pecking order at Chelsea under Antonio Conte, having made just one appearance as a substitute during the club’s seven-match winning streak.
His contract is up in the summer, and he said this week: “I still want to play for a couple more years, whether that is at Chelsea or somewhere abroad, I don’t know."
The Chinese Super League is arguably one of the only leagues that would be prepared to better Terry's reported £50,000-a-week wages, while he embarked on a one-man tour of the country in 2015 - the JT Captain China tour...
Let's hope that's not one of his new team-mate's wives.
