A man and woman are said to have been discovered dead around 6pm on September 5, in an Audi parked in Guangzhou's Baiyun District. Details remain scarce as authorities continue to investigate the case, but a reporter confirmed that the incident took place near where Dayuan Nan Lu and Dayuan Zhong Lu meet.
The black Audi Q7 model was still parked near an empty workshop, across from the Guangzhou Friendly Hospital.
When the reporter arrived at the scene around 8.30pm, the car's license plate had been covered up and the area had been cordoned off by police. In front of the car was what appeared to be an oil drum.
Relatives of the deceased had already gathered at the spot, but they were reluctant to discuss what had happened.
One person said that a man and a woman had died inside the car, but didn't know how. Another said that initial investigations revealed the cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning, and that the possibility of murder had been ruled out.
A eyewitness at the scene claims to have seen one of the deceased: "In the light, you could see a woman dead in the passenger’s seat."
He or she wasn't able to see anything in the backseat of the car.
