A Cuban painter that fused Western modernism with African and Caribbean symbols, Lam was a frequent face within the avant-garde movements of his time. Over a hundred etched works will be presented in this unique exhibition, which typifies Lam’s sensitive, free and fluid artistic style.

June 9: Man and Superman by National Theatre Live
Man and Superman, a four-act drama written by Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, is a romantic comedy that debuted in London in 1905. National Live Theatre’s reinvention features Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes, who “gives one of the best performances of his career,” in the words of the Independent. June 10: National Theatre Live Shakespeare Series: As You Like It
As one of Shakespeare’s most beloved works, the pastoral comedy As You Like It has been adapted for radio, film and musical theater over the years. Telling the story of heroine Rosalind who flees persecution in her uncle’s court to find romance in the Forest of Arden, the tale touches upon hardship, love and the malleability of human experience. This month, come to the Guangzhou Opera House and witness this timeless production presented by National Theatre Live program on the big screen.

June 11: Stand-Up Comedy with Joanna Sio
Need a laugh? Come check out Dr. Panda Comedy Club's first female headliner, Joanna Sio, live at The Paddy Field Guangzhou this Saturday night! An improviser and stand-up comedian based in Singapore, Sio's comedy life started in Amsterdam, where she performed with the group Easylaughs. She then went back to Hong Kong and performed stand-up and improv comedy with the People’s Liberation Improv at TakeOut Comedy HK. In 2012, she won second place at the HK International Comedy Competition while she was nine months pregnant. She has performed live stand-up in Australia, Canada, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany and the Netherlands. Come to Saturday's show and see if Sio prefers fries or boyfriends!
